A Pumpkin Muffin Moment

I purchased my first pumpkin muffin of the fall today. Don't sneer at me - I’m quite well aware that it is only September 7, and we still have a couple of weeks of summer left. I just couldn’t help it. I was leaving Casco at 7:15 a.m. when I stopped in our little rural bakery/healthy food store and there they were: freshly baked, aromatic, homemade pumpkin muffins still warm from the oven and calling my name – "Lisa, come to mama!” Now the real confession is that I actually purchased two – one for me and one, ostensibly, for Leo. After Leo ate half of his muffin, I thought it may not be wise to give him the other half before we started out on our four-hour journey to the ferry. So, I ate his other half instead. Sometimes, I can’t stand myself.
In celebration of the continuation of summer, when I returned home to East Hampton the Husband, Leo and I headed out into the cloud covered harbor in our little yellow boat to enjoy an hour or so of fishing. The sky was the color of steel, with pops of white and deeper grays. I love that kind of a sky – when the air glows silver. A delightful return back to Bonac.

In further celebration of summer, I am going to HarborFest in Sag Harbor this weekend. Check it out. Sag Harbor is such a unique village and still has shops you can actually shop in without having to take out a second mortgage or dip into your retirement account. An added bonus is that many of those shops are selling their merchandise at a discount at the sidewalk sale. Plus, there is music and so much more. Click on this link for more information.
September is such a blessing on so many levels. Get out of the house, spend some time outdoors and do something fun. Live a life. And have a great weekend!
