After a few weeks of slovenly behavior, except for working our butts off in St. John, the Husband and I are headed back to the gym. It couldn’t come soon enough. And we are getting our nutrition back in line. Sounds easy, right? I’m confident that I am not the only one who struggles with exercise and food. I love food. I love Italian food. I love pasta. Unfortunately, my health and pasta are not the best mates. It’s time to clean out the pantry and commit to healthy eating again. For me, that means limiting sugar and starchy carbs, making better choices about grains, and not going back for seconds. Just these little changes have such a huge impact. So, what do you all do to get your health in order? Inquiring minds want to know – please leave a comment below.

Today, I’m leaving on an airplane. However, I do know when I’ll be back again – in a few days. I’m heading to Maine to bring my mother back to East Hampton for a while, stop by the Fryeburg Fair and go apple picking. Apple picking, however, is bittersweet as last year in October I enjoyed my final apple picking adventure with my Dad. We had such an awesome day – he was feeling well, and we ate apple cider donuts and drank warm cider. No issues. It was fantastic. Two months later, he was gone. Sometimes I just can’t get my mind around it, I just can’t. Other times I am just so freaking grateful that I had that day and was blessed to be able to have my father in my life until he was 83. So many people lose their loving parents early in life or do not have loving parents at all. So, I am grateful. I miss him so much, but I am grateful. Find something to be grateful for this weekend and have a good one.
